Chef and owner, Tak Ishiwata, studied with celebrity chef Nobu. One patron says it's "Japanese fusion cuisine beyond sushi; serious, playful interesting food." Try the pan-seared caribou steak with bitter chocolate sauce, served with rice and vegetables. Now, that's adventurous. Also look for sushi, sashimi, pan- seared local tuna with citron. The dining room seats 30; the upstairs pub, 50. The pub menu has wings, spring rolls and deep-fried nuts. About $90 for two. Closed Sunday. 283 Duckworth St., St. John's, 709-576-4600.
